Here's the truth; I love organizing. For some, that will sound crazy, and for others, that will sound like the most relatable comment ever, haha.
I am definitely that girl who watches youtube videos on how to clean/organize, excitedly follows The Home Edit, and takes time out of her day to think about exactly how she is going to arrange her makeup in her new bathroom.
Honestly, I am not ashamed whatsoever about my passion for organizing. Having everything in a designated place makes me feel so much more put together. Organizing is almost therapeutic to me LOL. Anyways, organizing can be fun, and I'm here to let you in on the best tips and tricks I know!!
This post shows you organizing tips.

BEDROOM ORGANIZING TIPS:
The bedroom, a sanctuary if everything is clean and put away, and your worst nightmare if it's not.
My bedroom is my happy space, and yours should be too!! Finding ways to tailor your room to meet your needs can be easier than you think.
Organizing my room was one of the best decisions I've made. Every morning and night, I go in and feel neat and put together, knowing everything's in its rightful place. With all the thoughts I have running through my mind 24/7, I love having one less thing to worry about!
1. Plan before you start
First things first, before you start any organizing, you need to have a game-plan, or you are going to become overwhelmed and stressed.
Take time to look at everything in your room that needs organizing, then start with one thing. Honestly, I do not recommend trying to reorganize your entire room in one day. Choose one space and go from there, whether that be your nightstand, closet, or desk.
To be clear, when I saw I'm organizing, I mean full clear out, rethinking every drawer, not just dusting a moving a pen from one spot to another.
So, if you simply want to quickly organzine a few things here and there, then maybe one day is all it would take. But personally, I'd start with one area.

2. Map it out
Now that you have chosen which part of your room you would like to tackle, it's time to figure out if you need to buy organizing drawers, more hangers, dividers, the list goes on.
You should have everything you need before you start, or there's no way you'll be able to finish. For me, I ordered almost everything on Amazon, so although it didn't take weeks, it did take a couple of days for everything to come.
During your waiting period, you should map out how you want the space to be rearranged. If it's your closet, maybe you want your shirts to be color coordinated. Maybe your nightstand could do with a little decluttering to make space for the new journal you bought. The idea is to make your room as functional as possible for you.
3. Have a "dump basket"
Although this may not seem like an organizing tip per-say, having a dump basket is life-changing. Keeping a basket in your room where you can throw the stuff you don't want to put away at that moment will keep your room extra tidy.
If your cleaning day is Sunday (like mine), then you can go through and put all the things that have accumulated into the basket away in their designated locations!

4. Utilize under the bed storage
Buying bins to put under your bed for extra organizing space is a game-changer. Whether you need somewhere to put your out-of-season clothing or those random trophies you got as a kid, utilizing the empty space under your bed will change your life.

5. Have a place to put paper
I cannot be the only one who randomly gets papers in the mail I need to keep or birthday cards... the list goes on.
You will inevitably have loose papers that will need a place to go in your room, so why not be over-prepared and make one! There is no need to go and buy an ugly file cabinet; having a small folder where you can put important papers and documents will make your life less stressful and more organized. yay!!

6. Find a place to put (hide) your random cords
Random chords that have accumulated in my room that I can't get rid of are one of my ultimate pet-peeves. I truly recommend everyone find a small zipper pouch or a bin where you can put all those random cords you have.
Getting your cords out of the way and in a designated spot will not only make you happy, but me as well.

7. Implement the two minute rule
The two-minute rule is a rule I created for myself that has changed my organizational life, haha. Basically, how the rule works is; if I want to dump something or not put it away, I have to ask myself, "will this take me under two minutes to do?" if the answer is yes, then I have to do it.
For years I used to ignore making my bed because I thought it took two minutes. Well, I timed myself (even took my time to make sure the bed was perfect), and it took about three minutes, so there goes that excuse.
I promise you that the everyday things you have to do (like putting your clothing away, putting your toothbrush where it is supposed to go, etc.) do not take as long as you think; if you don't believe me, time yourself.
If you implement the two-minute rule, I can guarantee your room will stay organized longer.
BATHROOM ORGANIZING TIPS:
The place we're supposed to become clean probably should be clean and organized itself. Right? Yeah, I think so too lol.
Bathroom organizing is pretty simple since everything can be categorized, which is precisely what my first is! But, you should probably begin with the first one.
8. Take everything out and categorize
When organizing your bathroom, I think the best thing you can do is take everything out of the drawers. You want to be able to start with a clean slate. So, take everything out and wipe down all of your drawers, so they are sparkly clean.
Before/ while you are taking everything out, you should determine what categories you want to organize everything into. I say you should decide this before and during because I want you to be able to take everything out of your drawers and begin organizing at the same time.
For example, if in your first drawer you're clearing out, you have makeup and hair things, place them makeup in one little group, and the hair in another. While you continue to take everything out your piles will become bigger.
Here are some categories you can organize everything into:
Hair (tools, products, etc.)
Makeup/ Face products
Medicine
Body Products
Nail Supplies
Toiletries
9. Utilize organizers
Omg, organizers changed my life, and I'm obsessed with them. I have a post on how I organize my bathroom, where I go completely into depth on everything that's in my bathroom, and exactly how I organized my products. But for real, I highly recommend buying in organizers.
Lazy susans are perfect for hair-care products. Instead of having to dig and reach into the back of your cabinet, you can simply swivel the lazy susan around.
Clear vanity drawers are my favorite for all of the small things I want neatly put away in my bathroom drawers.

10. Take advantage of vertical space
Whether it's under the sink or in your bathroom cabinet, there might be more space than you think. Stackable shelves are a great way to maximize your space.
When you are deciding what to put under your sink, I would recommend choosing products or tools you don't usually reach for on a normal basis (random hair tools, bandaids, etc.).

11. Label, label, and don't forget to label
I'm a labeler through and through. I think labeling almost forces you to stay organized and truly designates where everything is supposed to go.
This is also great if you are sharing a bathroom with someone. Someone would have to go out of their way to put something away in the wrong place if everything is labeled.

KITCHEN ORGANIZING TIPS:
Who doesn't love the kitchen?
The kitchen is a primary hangout location in my apartment and with all the people means all the messes, which is why I purposely try to keep my kitchen super organized.
I want to quickly bring up some tips I already have from the bedroom and bathroom sections (but they're universal).
Map it: have a plan before you start
Take everything out
Clean all the nooks and crannies
Utilizes stackable drawers
Label, label, label
12. Make over-the-cabinet-door storage your bff
Over-the-cabinet storage is a life-saver, especially if you're in a small apartment (or just have a shi** of stuff, don't worry I get it lol).
I swear there's storage options for everything under the sun (I could probably write a whole post on it). But, I'll stick to the basics that I think are fantastic! ↓↓

13. Pan Organizing Rack
Whoever came up with this is genius! I cannot tell you how annoyed I get trying to look through my messy cabinet full of pans spewed out in various directions.
For easy access, pan organizing racks are the BEST. You really can't go wrong with these guys.

14. Monthly Clean-Outs
It's almost inevitable that you are going to find something in your pantry or fridge that expired weeks ago (or is it just me haha). However, I try to prevent this.
Nobody likes wasting food or money, so I've started to implement the once a month clean-out where I go through my fridge and pantry. I try to find everything that's about to expire and make sure I use ti asap.
You may be wondering, "Sophia, shouldn't you do this once a week, or at least every other week?" And yes, although things definitely expire within a week, I try to be realistic, and there's no way I would be able to stick to a once a week, or every other week routine of going through my food. Don't try to be too hard on yourself. Do what works best for you!
